►step 1 First Thing You Have To Do Is Call Your cell Phone Service Provider'>cell Phone Service Provider And Ask Them For The "initialization String" And Phone Number For Internet Access For Your Laptop. Mine Is *99# For The Phone Number. Be Very Careful To Write Down Exactly What They Say. For T-mobile It's At+cgdcont=1,"ip","wap.voicestream.com". This String Must Be Enetered Exactly As Shown!!
►step 2 Next Thing You Have To Do Is Set Up A Connection In Your Pc For A Remote Modem. Got To Lower Left Corner Of Pc. This Instruction Is Based On Xp. You May Have To Adapt. Left Click On Start. Left Click On Programs. Go To Accessories, Communications, And Finally Network Connections. Go To File On Top Of Screen And Left Click. Select New Connection. Next Pop Up Select Next. Next Screen Select Connect To Internet. Select Next. Next Pop Up Select Set Up My Connection Manually And Select Next. Next Pop Up Select Connect Using Dial Up Modem. This Modem Will Be Your Cell Phone. Next Pop Up Screen Select Standard Modem. Press Next. Isp Name Will Be "cell Usb".
►step 3 Here's Where Things Get Tricky. "isp" Phone Number Is The Number They Gave You. Mine Is *99#. Click Next. At The Next Screen Uncheck Everything. Click Next. On The Next Screen Click Finish. You Don't Want To Create A Short Cut Because Mine Only Worked Half The Time.
►step 4 Now Comes Your Knowledge Of Pc's. Left Click On Start, Control Panel, And Modems. Your Phone Came With A Software That Must Be In Your Pc And Working. Click On And Start The blackberry Software That Came With Your Phone, With Your Phone Plugged In. This Software Must Be Running For You To Connect To The Internet. I Hope I Said That With Enough Vigor. Left Click On Start. Left Click On Control Panel. Left Click On Modems. Click On modems Tab. Click On Standard Modems. Click On Properties In Middle Of Page. Click On Diagnostics. Click On Query Modem. First Line Should Say Standard Modem. Second Line Should Say Successful. Again Remember blackberry Software Has To Be Running
►step 5 Next, On Vista Go To The General Tab And Left Click On Change Settings. Back To Both Versions, Then Select The Advanced Window. The Initialization String Goes Here. It Must Be Entered Exactly As They Gave It To You. If Not, You'll Never Connect. Once Done, Click Ok And Close Out All Windows.
►step 6 Now It Gets Tricky. Left Click On Start. Now You Should Have A Selection Called Connect To On The Menu On The Right Side Directly Above Help Support. When You Put The Mouse On Connect To, A Window Should Pop Out To The Right. Your Created Usb Connection Should Pop Out To The Right. Click On That Banner. A New Dialup Window Should Pop Up. At The Phone Number Spot Enter The Phone Number They Gave You. Like I Said, Mine Is *99#. Click Dial. A Couple More Screens Will Pop Up Concerning Connecting And Then The Windows Will Drop Into The Lower Right Corner Saying Usb Is Connected. Now You Can Use Your Internet Explorer.
►step 7 On That Window You Should See The Connection You Just Created. Left Click On That Modem. A Window Will Pop Up Asking For The Phone Number At The Bottom. Again, Make Sure All The Other Info Is Blank. I Then Put *99# In The Dial Window And Press Dial. If All Is Correct, That Window Will Go Away And A Smaller Window Will Come Up Notifying Of The Attempt. It Should Go All The Way To Authorizing And Suddenly Collapse To The Lower Right Of Your Pc.
